As his time with the Washington Wizards gets underway, Trae Young is wasting no time making an impact on his new home.
The Trae Young Family Foundation donated $100,000—$50,000 each—to two of Washington’s community organizations, DC College Access Program (DC CAP) and DC Central Kitchen.
“Ever since arriving in D.C., I have felt nothing but love,” Trae said. “Washington, D.C., is a big market with great people, and I want to invest in this community the same way the community has invested in me from day 1. DC CAP and DC Central Kitchen are doing great work to serve others. This is just the start, and I’m excited to keep building with both organizations.”
As described by the press release shared by the Wizards:
The DC College Access Program (DC CAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping D.C. public students and public charter high school students get to and through college. The Trae Young Family Foundation’s gift to DC CAP Scholars will directly help fund college access for D.C. students. DC Central Kitchen uses food as a tool to build communities, operating a nationally recognized culinary job training program alongside school food and hunger relief initiatives across Washington, D.C. They have operated continuously for 13 years without closing a single day, serving 17,000 meals every day across D.C.
