As he prepares to embark on his seventh NBA season, Trae Young is once again embracing his mantra: Another Day Another Opportunity.

Recently Trae was asked to discuss his approach to all things as part of Uninterrupted’s YouTube series “Invisible Game.”

In the video feature, Trae talks about his relationship with his strength coach Travelle Gaines, feedback he’s received as a player, how he’s learned to drown out the noise and why he has embraced being open about his mental health.

“There’s been a stigma around mental health and what we’re going through,” Trae says. “I think us as men, in general, we like to hide our emotions, and don’t necessarily want to let everybody in on what’s really going on or what we go through.”

Trae says he used to feel that way too, but through his relationship with Gaines, a trusted confidant, he has found an avenue to discuss what’s on his mind in ways that can help clear his head.

“Anybody that needs help or anybody that’s going through things, they should always speak up. In my case, I felt like I didn’t need it,” he says. “I always wanted to be perfect and I think one of the best things that was told to me was that I don’t have to be. You try your best every day and you try to be the best version of yourself. It’s okay.”
